-Take a bath: This may seem de rigueur, but there really is nothing like a shower to get rid of skin smell. Showering twice a day removes sweat and surface bacteria. Use an antibacterial soap or medicated scrub.
-Make dietary changes: Often, foods which are strong smelling such as garlic and onions, can get carried into perspiration, causing odour. Vegetables that have 'sulfur' compounds are also known to be a cause. Cut down the intake of these 'offensive' foods, after checking with your nutritionist.
-Keep your underarms clean: The area can be be a breeding ground for bacteria. Shave or remove hair regularly to stop body odour from developing there.
-Quit smoking: Chewing tobacco and smoking escalates the production of free radicals, which in turn causes bacteria to form on the skin.
-Hydrate yourself well: We can't stress on this enough! Water is key to flush out toxins from the body and eliminate bacteria. Go beyond the prescribed 8-10 glasses per day, especially in the summer.
-Use apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is regarded as a powerful bacteria-fighting ingredient which removes body odour by balancing the skin's pH level. Either rub some of it on the underarms, keep it on for a few minutes and then wash it off, or add a cup of apple cider vinegar to your warm water and let the skin soak in this for 5-6 minutes, daily.
- Try a rosemary bath: The herb, mostly used in culinary ways, is another effective remedy. It has odour-fighting properties and has shown to be able to destroy bacteria. Steep half a cup of dried rosemary leaves in 4-5 cups of water and add this to your bath.
